The $300,000 buy-in event, now in its second year, begins on May 29 at the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. The event had a $500,000 buy-in last year. Of course, many of the players sold pieces of themselves.
“The speed at which this exciting event sold out is evidence of the popularity of the Super High Roller Bowl and of poker itself,” said Clint Stinchcomb, CEO of Poker Central.
“With some of the most exciting and famous players already locked in, the Super High Roller Bowl will be riveting to watch,” he added.
Players who have committed to play include Antonio Esfandiari, Phil Hellmuth, Erik Seidel, Daniel Negreanu, Doug Polk, Scott Seiver, Connor Drinan, David Peters, Tom Marchese and Brian Rast, who won the event last year for $7.525 million. The full list can be found here.
The winner this year will receive $5 million.
The 2016 Super High Roller Bowl has a prize pool of $15 million. With 49 players, the tournament will play seven-handed. Registration opened in late January and it was actually closed prior to March. Aria’s Poker Director, Sean McCormack, said that he’s “never seen a high-stakes tournament sell out three months in advance.” He called the situation “unprecedented,” and added that the tournament has a waiting list in case someone drops out.
