Last week the world’s largest gaming industry expo, dubbed G2E, came about in Las Vegas and presented an excessively special recognition for Mohegan Sun's Sr. Vp of Sports & Entertainment Tom Cantone. Cantone received the industry's first Lifetime Achievement Award for his visionary changes that revolutionized casino entertainment and its impact on how modern casinos market themselves today. Tony Orlando, this year's winner of “Casino Entertainer of the Year,” presented the award to Cantone at ceremonies held on the Hard Rock Casino. "Tom's innovative leadership influenced every generation and introduced American Popular culture into the standard programming of casino entertainment. It was and still is a revolution of the way the creative marketing of talent opened the door for the following generation of stars, and prepared the ground for casinos to program what you might be seeing today all around the world," said Tony Orlando. "He made it hip to play a casino and now all of today's mega stars make certain Mohegan Sun Arena is a part of their tours, which in lots of cases, they begin their tours there," Orlando added.
"I'm blessed with the most productive team within the nation and it's because in their creative skills and the support of my management team that we will enjoy these moments of popularity. This award belongs to everyone," said Cantone.
