Sunday's "Double Vision" promotion meant a second Sunday Million was added this week, meaning players had an additional chance at PokerStars' popular $215 no-limit hold'em tournament with the $1 million guarantee. The Sunday Million II started a half-hour later than the regular Sunday Million, but actually ended a couple of minutes before its counterpart way to a blindingly fast final table that saw Van Razor of Canada wade through a tableful of opponents to capture the title and $177,235.18 first prize.
Van Razor earned the biggest share of the tourney's guarantee-busting $1,133,200 prize pool, created by the 5,666 who entered the Sunday Million II. The highest 810 finishers made the cash, with it taking almost five hours for that cash bubble to burst.
Team PokerStars Pro Leo Margets was among those just missing the cash when she was eliminated in 822nd. Meanwhile, Andre "acoimbra" Coimbra of Team Online was more fortunate to last slightly longer to complete 763rd for a $328.62 cash. Team PokerStars Pro Eugene Katchalov also got that far and more, lasting the entire method to 411th to remove $430.61, together with his teammates Martin "AABenjaminAA" Hruby (317th, $487.27) and Naoya "nkeyno" Kihara (141st, $849.90) likewise creating a profit on this one.
It would ultimately take about nine-and-a-half hours for the sector to be whittled all the way down to just 18 players gathered across the final two tables, at which point knif1807 and 77kol0bok77 were battling for the chip lead with both hovering across the 6.8 million-chip mark.
Krazy90 (18th), Muntjesvader (17th), and CuAt69UsdSng (16th) were the following to go, each earning $3,342.94 for his or her efforts. AKLJ90 (15th), Jannick "EDWARDHOPPER" Wrang (14th), and Ravic85 (13th) took away $5,042.74 apiece. And Pinocchyo (12th), CredeExperto (11th), and batcashaut (10th) each saw an extra $6,742.54 of their PokerStars upon their eliminations.
With Van Razor having pushed into the chip lead with greater than 9.7 million, and 10/6/13 Sunday Million winner Runninggreat not far behind with almost 8.9 million, the overall table was underway.
Seat 1: PIPI tapis! (Malta) -- 6,864,790
Seat 2: Van Razor (Canada) -- 9,753,776
Seat 3: loupeznik10 (Czech Republic) -- 6,266,469
Seat 4: Mzo. (Sweden) -- 6,356,096
Seat 5: 77kol0bok77 (Russia) -- 6,487,250
Seat 6: knif1807 (Germany) -- 7,315,800
Seat 7: bmky88 (Singapore) -- 1,502,563
Seat 8: mauser 658 (Lithuania) -- 3,223,094
Seat 9: Runninggreat (Canada) -- 8,890,162
It took rather less than one orbit for the primary elimination of the general table to occur.
The blinds were 125,000/250,000 when bmky88 open-pushed for 1,037,563 from middle position and got a single caller in Mzo. within the big blind. bmky88 had [Kc][Qh] and Mzo. [Ad][7s]. The flop came a startling [9d][9h][9s], then the [2d] and [8h] less dramatically followed to send bmky88 out in ninth.
Next to move was mauser 658 in eighth after losing a preflop all-in confrontation with Runninggreat.
The blinds had hiked as much as 150,000/300,000 when mauser 658 opened with a shove for 1,943,094 from the button and Runninggreat called from the small blind. It was [Jc][Td] for mauser 658 and [As][7s] for Runninggreat. The board ran out [8c][2h][5c][Kc][8d], and so they were right down to seven.
Shortly after that the blinds were 200,000/400,000 when Van Razor opened with a raise to at least one million from the button, then loupeznik10 reraised to 3.2 million from the small blind. It folded back to Van Razor who reraised again to 5.4 million, and loupeznik10 called with the 553,581 left behind.
loupeznik10 had [Ad][Qd] and hoped to enhance against the [3d][3s] of Van Razor, however the flop fell [5d][7s][3h] to present the latter a set, and by the [Jh] turn loupeznik was drawing dead to earn a seventh-place finish.
The final six players played another QUARTER-HOUR to make it to the 11-hour break with Van Razor having a commanding lead with greater than 21 million, nearly 3 times what anyone else had at that moment. After they returned five minutes later, a blitzkrieg of bustouts rapidly followed, with Van Razor knocking out all five opponents within the next six minutes, needing only a dozen more hands to complete the tournament!
The first three knockouts happened during Level 39, when the blinds were still 200,000/400,000 with a 40,000 ante.
First it was 77kol0bok77 open-pushing from under the gun for 4,373,650 with [7d][7h] and Van Razor calling from the small blind with [As][Kc]. The board came [Ts][4s][6s][9h][7s], adding as much as a suite of sevens for 77kol0bok77 but a spade flush for Van Razor, thereby ending 77kol0bok77's run in sixth.
Five hands later, Van Razor opened for 980,000 from the small blind and Mzo. called from the massive blind. As PIPI tapis! was asking the others about possibly discussing a deal, the flop came [Ac][3h][Jd], Van Razor checked, Mzo. bet 1.2 million, Van Razor raised to 6.8 million, and Mzo. called all in with the 5,511,547 left.
Mzo. showed [Ad][6d] for prime pair of aces, but Van Razor had flopped bottom two pair with [Jh][3s]. The turn was the [Tc] and river the [4s], and so they were right down to four.
Three hands after that it was Runninggreat raising to 1.56 million from the button, then Van Razor reraising to 5.04 million from the massive blind and Runningreat calling all in with the 3,144,256 left.
Runninggreat had [As][Tc] but needed help against Van Razor's [Th][Td]. The board came [2d][7h][Kh], then [5s], then [Kc], and Van Razor had claimed another victim to carve the sector to a few. Still, it was another great finish for Runninggreat who added a fourth to that first-place showing within the Sunday Million two months ago.
Two hands later they'd reached Level 40 and the blinds had moved as much as 250,000/500,000 when Van Razor raised to 1.1 million from the button, knif1807 reraised all in for 5,527,200 from the small blind, PIPI tapis! folded the massive blind, and Van Razor called.
Van Razor was the only behind this time with [Ks][Js] against knif1807's [Ac][6s]. However the [2s][Ts][Kh] flop soon corrected that, giving Van Razor top pair of kings plus a flush draw. The turn was the [9c] and river the [5c], and so they were right down to two.
Heads-up play would then last but one hand, with Van Razor completing the sequence of busts to assert the title in breathtakingly quick fashion.
The hand began with Van Razor way as much as 49,175,210, about six-and-a-half times the 7,484,790 that PIPI tapis! had. The latter opened with a 2x raise to one million from the button, then Van Razor reraised to 3.5 million. PIPI tapis! pushed for 7,434,790, and Van Razor called.
Van Razor: [Ad][5d]
PIPI tapis!: [8c][8d]
The flop came [6s][7s][As] and identical to that Van Razor was in front yet again, with PIPI tapis! on the lookout for some of the two remaining eights to outlive. The turn was the [Jh] and the river the [Ac], improving Van Razor further to trips and bringing an abrupt end to the Sunday Million II.
Congratulations to Van Razor who carried the chip result in the general table, then following the primary two knockouts swiftly burnt up the remainder of the table to say certainly one of two Sunday Million titles being awarded tonight!
