We spoke with four of the largest personalities throughout the Opening Event here on the 888poker London Live Festival and located out what makes them tick in the case of talking poker on the table.
We started by asking our players what they considered the William Kassouf hand on the World Series of Poker Main Event. Each of our four players have their very own style. Teddy Sheringham is of course more reserved on the table, for example, while Watts and Charles Chattha can often be heard discussing hands, European football and news throughout the poker industry.
Teddy Sheringham: I FEEL everyone has their very own rules. It's like celebrating a goal in football; some have extravagant celebrations, some haven't. That's just how it is.
Charles Chattha: I BELIEVE full banter have to be encouraged; everything goes. You should not take playing the sport too seriously. I DO NOT personally. I LOVE to rejoice. Obviously if you are playing for large money, sometimes you are taking it a bit of more seriously, but on the same time, it's important to play the sport in good spirits.
If there's a limit on the subject of talking, maybe it comes right down to that celebration of a winning hand. In poker, much more so in life, one player's gain is very literally on the cost of another. No chips are ever won without being lost by someone else. So can talking change into berating a player if you are not careful?
Arron Fletcher: I DO NOT know what's an excessive amount of. Some people deserve berating! But really, the general public doing the berating are bad players and also you don't need to forestall them having fun! It is the same view I'VE about slowrolling. If that is what gives them kicks, then it's fine.
