Sunday Briefing: Sunday Million Leads to a Three-Way Chop | PokerNews
On Sunday, while the action on the 2016 World Series of Poker was heating up in Las Vegas, the net poker world was busy awarding huge cash prizes to these lucky and skilful enough to achieve the overall tables of some of the Sunday majors.
The largest prizes stemmed from play at PokerStars, with the Sunday Million meting out three six-figure scores. “kingarthurcc” of China won the Sunday Million and took home $132,304.01 with Belgium’s “carnic777” finishing second, scooping $140,453.19, and Argentina’s “nicolasb” busting in third for $129,488.80 way to a three-way chop.
In the $1,050 Sunday Grand, it was Bulgaria’s Aleks “grinder1992” Dimitrov who walked away with top honors, scoring $62,751.3. “Subv” won $46,597.50 for his runner-up finish, and previous Team PokerStars Pro Ana “ana marquez” Marquez finished third for $34,335.
Other larger PokerStars scores on Sunday included:
- “e.u.e.w.b.” — winner of the Sunday Kickoff for $19,094.53
- “PeroQmaloSoy” — winner of the Sunday Warm-Up for $56,544
- “Swoop 007” — winner of the massive $109 for $25,375.08
- Shankar “Shankar825” Pillai — winner of the Super-Sized Sunday for $31,513.50
- “I M ICM” — winner of the large $215 for $22,458.93
- “phatlat” — winner of the Sunday Cooldown for $19,217.81
- “daskalos20” — winner of the Sunday Supersonic for $36,218.67
Ian Simpson Triumphs within the $400,000 GPPT Online
Over at partypoker, British grinder Ian “Simpioni” Simpson helped himself to the $51,891 first place prize within the $400,000 Grand Prix Poker Tour Online tournament. As a part of a distinct promotion for UK and Irish players, Simpson’s victory also bagged him a VIP package to Las Vegas worth a groovy $25,000.
Also securing a good payout were “Cassiopak18” way to winning the Weigh-In for $10,642.46, Ireland’s Gary “garyt20” Thompson who won the principle Event for $24,150.15, “luckyman14777” who netted $33,150 after winning the High Roller, and “MechaCorta” who took down the Super High Roller for $53,879.20.
A Quartet of giant Results at 888poker
The majors at 888poker created some five-figure scores this weekend including one worth $18,924.30. That princely sum is now nestled within the 888poker account of “kimberslice” once they topped a field of 326 within the $80,000 Baby Whale.
Australia’s “dinhjo35” walked away with the $24,481.44 first place prize of the $100,000 Mega Deep, while “uarebad lol” finished on top within the $40,000 Turbo Mega Deep for an $8,314.07 addition to their bankroll.
Completing our round up of the Sunday results for this week is the $16,880.62 won by the UK’s “4bettor,” the prize for winning the $80,000 Sunday Challenge.
