Jason Mercier is at it again.
On Tuesday, the Floridian sat with about a regular stack with just 16 remaining out of a starting field of 163 in event no. 32 ($10,000 Omaha Hi-Low Eight-Or-Better Championship). A LAST table could be his fourth of the summer. A win can be a remarkable third bracelet of the summer.
Only Puggy Pearson, Phil Hellmuth, Ted Forrest, Phil Ivey and Jeff Lisandro have won three bracelets in a year. Lisandro last did it in 2009.
Not including his payday in event no. 32, Mercier has cashed for $868,549 up to now this summer. He has also won an undisclosed amount in side bets.
The most mentioned wager was the only with fellow PokerStars Team Pro Vanessa Selbst, who gave Mercier 180:1 odds on $10,000 back in January against a Mercier hat-trick this summer.
Selbst said three days ago that she has successfully “hedged for many it.” She said it wasn’t with Mercier. “Still have a good sweat,” she admitted.
In other words, a 3rd win for Mercier won’t lead to her losing $1.8 million, however it will lead to Mercier adding that figure to his bankroll.
Mercier posted to his social media right across the start of event no. 32 that he was still seeking side action from the poker community. He said that he was willing to present 4:1 on him winning a 3rd this summer, with the minimum bet being $20,000 against his $5,000.
The 2016 WSOP has 69 bracelet events, probably the most ever for the Series.
