But what does that mean for bettors? Is LeBron an excellent bet within the Finals? Or is the Finals the time to vanish the "King"?
Well, lets take a look.
James has played in a complete of 33 NBA Finals games during his career, posting only a 13-20 record in those games. That's a winning percentage of just 39.4 percent. So, not the best,
Looking deeper into that number you'll see, when LeBron loses a Finals series, it never goes the space and usually, they end rather quickly, averaging just 5.2 games per Finals. Within the four Finals LeBron has lost his record is solely 5-16 (23.8 percent).
Unfortunately with regards to the spread, the numbers look very similar.
LeBron led teams are 13-19-1 against the spread within the Finals, cashing just 40.6 percent of the time. In fact, LeBron has had a winning ATS record only once within the NBA Finals. That was back in 2012, going 4-1 ATS on his solution to leading the Miami Heat to the NBA Championship in five games over the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Since winning the series versus the Thunder it's been even worse.
LeBron led teams are only 6-12 ATS (33.3 percent) within the three seasons since, including just 3-8 ATS (27.3 percent) within the last two seasons. LeBron lost either one of those Finals.
So while many pundits believe LeBron's legacy might be shaped by this Finals appearance, bettors should know to not put an excessive amount of trust within the "King" this time around against Golden State.
