This week's must-have NBA daily fantasy basketball players
For anyone who believes it's foolish to spend up for studs in daily fantasy, we present the case of New Orleans Pelicans center Anthony Davis.

Last weekend, Davis sent shockwaves through the DFS world with what was easily the most impressive individual performance of the season. Davis racked up an absurd 59 points - the highest-scoring game in the NBA in nearly two seasons - and added 20 rebounds, four assists and a block en route to an absurd 89 FanDuel points.

He's the only player in the league to break the 80-point FanDuel plateau this season, and only three players - Davis included - managed the feat last season.

Take a look at the names on the list of this year's Top 10 single-game DFS performances: Davis, James Harden, Draymond Green, Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler, Kemba Walker, DeMarcus Cousins, John Wall, Damian Lillard and Dwight Howard.

Anyone who rostered these players for their big games were almost certainly winners. Anyone who didn't, at least in tournaments, didn't stand a chance. You aren't getting these kinds of games from low-salaried options, so don't be afraid to splurge on a stud - picking the right one will make a good lineup spectacular.

Here are the top must-play options of the week:

Tuesday - SG Victor Oladipo, Magic (at 76ers)

With the Magic effectively deciding to play for next year and beyond, Oladipo has been racking up the minutes and is performing well above his price point, averaging better than 43 fantasy points over his past two games. A matchup with host Philadelphia is a terrific opportunity for Oladipo to continue his red-hot play at a price that will allow you to spend up elsewhere.

Wednesday - PG Chris Paul, Clippers (vs. Nuggets)

Paul has kept the Clippers sailing along in the absence of PF Blake Griffin, and should have no trouble carving up a Denver defensive unit that will be playing the tail end of a back-to-back. There is some risk with the Clippers expected to run the Nuggets out of the Staples Center. But Paul should score enough points and drop enough dimes to return value in limited action.

Thursday - PG Russell Westbrook, Thunder (at Pelicans)

Davis provided New Orleans fans with a much-needed thrill over the weekend, but the Pelicans are still a bad team with an even worse defense. And those are the kinds of matchups Westbrook can exploit better than just about any player in the NBA. New Orleans is incapable of slowing Russ down - the potential of a blowout exists - but Westbrook is money even in limited playing time.

Friday - PG Kyle Lowry, Raptors (vs. Cavaliers)

Some daily fantasy players may be scared off by a matchup between the top two teams in the East. And those players would be misguided. Lowry has been sensational this season against Cleveland, averaging 25 points, eight assists, 3.5 rebounds, three steals and a block in two meetings. Something similar Friday night would make him one of daily fantasy's best value plays.

Saturday - SF Kevin Durant, Thunder (vs. Warriors)

Durant was a force in the previous meeting of Western Conference powerhouses, exploding for 40 points and 14 rebounds while adding five assists, two blocks and a steal. For all that the Warriors have going for them, they don't appear to be able to slow Durant down. And in a game that should be another slugfest, Durant is the best play of the night.

Sunday - SG DeMar DeRozan, Raptors (at Pistons)

The Raptors have had their way with the Pistons in a pair of meetings this season and DeRozan has been at the core of those victories, averaging 23 points, five rebounds, five assists and 1.5 steals. Expect a closely-contested game Sunday night, meaning DeRozan should see plenty of minutes and shot opportunities.
