6:55pm: Banic stations
Level 23 - Blinds 10,000/20,000 (ante 3,000)
Patrick Clarke has moved up to second in chips after winning a decent sized pot against Ivan Banic. It was actually Christopher Kruk who lit the kindling: the Canadian opened to 45,000 from early position, Banic called from the hijack, only for Clarke to three-bet to 160,000 from the small blind. Kruk folded, but Banic called.
Both players checked the [8c][Ks][3c] flop and the [8d] fell on the turn. Clarke bet 190,000 and again Banic called. The [4c] river completed the flush draw, but it didn't slow Clarke down as he bet 385,000.
Banic tanked for about 10 seconds before placing a single chip into the pot to signify a call. Clarke opened [9h][8h] for turned trips and it was good.
Clarke is up to 2,315,000. Banic is down to 900,000. --NW
6:40: Kamatakis shares his read on Bernies
Level 23 - Blinds 10,000-20,000 (3,000 ante)
While I was watching a hand between Gilles Bernies and Chistopher Kruk, Iliodoros Kamatakis got out of his seat and started whispering to me.
"I have a read on the French guy," he said. Bernies is actually German, but whatever. I'll tell you that later; for now, back to the hand.
Kruk min-opened to 40,000 and faced a three-bet from the French...sorry, German player. It was for 140,000 and Kruk made the call.
The flop came [8h][6s][qc] and Kruk checked. Bernies took his time and counted out a bet of 170,000. It was good enough to take down the pot.
So, to Kamatakis' read on Bernies.
I can't tell you that can I? That would break player-blogger confidentiality. --JS
6:45pm: Outer-table chip counts
Level 23 - Blinds 10,000-20,000 (3,000 ante)
Here's how the stacks roughly size up right now on the outer table:
Christopher Kruk 1,300,000
Iliodoros Kamatakis 1,100,000
Ivan Banic 1,700,000
Gilles Bernies 2,700,000
Jiachen Gong 540,000
Patrick Clarke 1,500,000
Mikhail Petrov 1,000,000
Matias Ruzzi 1,000,000 --JS
6:40pm: Rhys takes of Ruzzi
Level 23 - Blinds 10,000-20,000 (3,000 ante)
Rhys Jones is back up to 1.1 million after a hand against Matias Ruzzi. The hand began with Tomas MacNamara in early position opening for 45,000. Ruzzi called on the button as did Jones in the big blind.
The flop came [5s][8s][td] which MacNamara checked. Ruzzi bet 53,000 which Jones called, keeping his hood over his mouth. MacNamara folded.
On the [7d] turn both players checked for a [ks] river card. At this point Jones bet 147,000, forcing the fold. - SB
6:30pm: All happening pre-flop
Level 23 - Blinds 10,000-20,000 (3,000 ante)
Not much happening post-flop on the feature table, but plenty before, including the latest hand.
Dzmitry Urbanovich opened from the cut off for 50,000 which Kuljinder Sidhu called from the small blind. Matias Ruzzi was in the big blind and three-bet to 175,000.
The action returned to Urbanovich who paused, then four-bet to 478,000, leaving himself 250,000 behind. Sidhu folded, so too did Ruzzi. Urbanovich, who had been very short not long ago, is now up to 974,000. - SB
6:25pm: Gong's kings are good
Level 23 - Blinds 10,000/20,000 (ante 3,000)
From early position Mikhail Petrov opened to 45,000 and Jiachen Gong called out of the big blind. The [7s][7d][8s] flop checked through and the [3h] fell on the turn. Gong led for 80,000 and Petrov called.
The [7h] rounded off the board and Gong fired a second bullet. This time 125,000 was the asking price and it was a price Petrov paid. Gong opened [Kc][Kh] for a slow-played pair of kings, which turned into a full house.
"Would you have called all-in?" asked Iliodoros Kamatakis of Petrov, to which the Russian replied, "I had an eight. We might be chopping."
Gong's up to 740,000 while Petrov is down to 1,100,000. --NW
6:15pm: Paddy Clarke, ha, ha, ha
Level 23 - Blinds 10,000-20,000 (3,000 ante)
Before the blinds went up, Iliodoros Kamatakis and Patrick Clarke had a bit of a rivalry going on. Here are two hands they played in a row heads-up against each other.
In the first one, Kamatakis opened to 35,000, and Patrick Clarke three-bet to 92,000. It folded around to Kamatakis and he made the call, before the flop came [ac][kc][7c].
Both players checked it, and the turn was the [3c] bringing four cards to a flush. They both checked and the turn wasn't a fifth club, but instead the [8s]. Clarke put together a bet of 85,000 and Kamatakis called.
"Flush?" he asked. "Flush," replied Clarke.
Kamatakis' [tc][th] was higher than Clarke's [4c][4s] though.
On the next hand. Kamatakis opened slightly higher to 36,000 and this time Clarke just called from the big blind. The flop was the [5h][5d][th], which both checked, and the turn another ten - the [tc]. Clarke bet 65,000, Kamatakis called, and the river was the [6d].
Clarke doubled his turn bet and then some with a 135,000 bet, and Kamatakis had a decision to make. He counted out calling chips, but they must have looked too good to give up. He folded.
Patrick Clarke 1,650,000
Iliodoros Kamatakis 1,100,000 --JS
6pm: Mateos on the rise
Level 23 - Blinds 10,000-20,000 (3,000 ante)
Adrian Mateos has had a profitable passage of play, up to 940,000. Two pots did it, and both times it was a pre-flop four-bet that forced out the opposition. First Rhys Jones and most recently Matias Ruzzi. Mateos is the only former EPT winner left in the field. - SB
5:55pm: More for Meylan
Level 22- Blinds 8,000/16,000 (ante 2,000)
Alexandre Meylan just won the first significant pot at the outer table since the players returned. The action was started by Jiachen Gong, he opened to 36,000, Mikhail Petrov then three-bet to 84,000 from the hijack, Meylan smooth called from the cutoff and Gong put in the extra.
So it was three to a flop, which fell [5h][Ts][7c], the action checked to Meylan, he bet 102,000 and both his opponents folded. --NW
