According to WPT live updates, it took just 10 hands for the primary elimination of the general table to occur. It happened in Level 29 (40,000/80,000/10,000) when Guillaume Nolet, who was crippled after Mukul Pahuja doubled through him, called off his last 30,000 from middle position. Ratharam Sivagnanam tried to isolate with a raise to 200,000 from the button, but Jaffe responded with a three-bet to 480,000 from the large blind. Sivagnanam called after which folded to a big gamble of 175,000 from Jaffe at the q-Diamonds j-Clubs j-Spades flop.

Jaffe: a-Diamonds a-Hearts Nolet: 9-Diamonds 4-Clubs

Neither the 3-Hearts turn nor Q-Clubs river helped Nolet, and he was eliminated in sixth place for $83,658. Then, available #25, Sam Chartier followed him out the door after running his 7-Diamonds 7-Hearts into the q-Hearts q-Spades of Sivagnanam. Chartier took home $103,537 for his fifth-place finish.

Just 10 hands after that, Kevin MacPhee fell when he got his stack all in preflop holding the k-Diamonds 10-Clubs . Unfortunately for him, Jaffe looked him up with the a-Clubs q-Clubs and won the hand with an entire house after the board ran out a-Diamonds q-Diamonds 8-Clubs a-Spades 7-Clubs . MacPhee earned $138,278 for his fourth-place finish.

On Hand #54, which happened in Level 31 (60,000/120,000/20,000), Jaffe raised to 260,000 from the button only to have Pahuja three-bet to 740,000 from the massive blind. Jaffe then four-bet to fourteen. million and snap-called after Pahuja five-bet shoved for 4.6 million.

Pahuja: a-Clubs q-Hearts Jaffe: k-Clubs k-Spades

It was a foul spot for Pahuja, and it got even worse when the k-Hearts 7-Spades 2-Diamonds flop delivered Jaffe a suite. The 2-Spades turn left Pahuja drawing dead, and after the 8-Clubs was run out at the river, the reigning WPT Player of the Year took his leave in third place for $186,964.

Jaffe began heads-up play with an almost 3-1 chip lead over Sivagnanam, but it surely would take 81 hands before a winner was firm. It happened to be had #135 in Level 36 (200,000/400,000/50,000) when Sivagnanam limped the button and Jaffe raised to fourteen. million from the large blind. Sivagnanam tanked for roughly a minute before shoving for 5.225 million and Jaffe snap-called.

Sivagnanam was drawing to 2 live cards, but he missed because the board ran out a dry 6-Hearts 4-Spades 3-Spades j-Hearts q-Hearts . Sivagnanam was awarded $290,111 for his runner-up finish while Jaffe captured the $429,106 first-place prize and etched his name at the WPT Champions’ Cup.
