UK Conservatives Invent Online Casino Problem Gambling Numbers

The Commission's assertion that problem gambling was dramatically rising because playing at online casinos has grown in popularity was dismissed as rubbish.

Officials throughout the British government clashed as announcement of increases in problem gambling by the Gambling Commission were disputed by the dept of Culture, which used actual research to derive far different figures. The Commission's assertion that problem gambling was dramatically rising because playing at online casinos has grown in popularity was dismissed as rubbish.

Conservative politicians had latched onto an arbitrary estimate that 7.4 percent of Internet gambling patrons develop compulsive gambling. However, an official government study shows that problem gambling constitutes only 0.6 percent of the population.

``There is not any basis if truth be told for this claim and the truth is that levels of problem gambling haven't risen since 1997," says a spokesman for the dep. of Culture. "Whilst it's true that more individuals are gambling online, it doesn't necessarily follow that more have gotten problem gamblers."

The Tories would use the heavily exaggerated claims to justify blocking some online casinos from advertising, and making gaming licenses harder to acquire. Presently, sites can release UK ads in the event that they are based in a rustic at the white list, but don't receive individual review.

Figures show over 1 / 4 million more adults gambled on the web this year within the UK over last year, a rise of 5.2 percent.

Full Tilt Poker Unsuccessful Breaking Tournament Record

It was reported that Full Tilt Poker was looking to set a brand new record for the most important online tournament this weekend, however their attempts were unsuccessful. They did however be capable to rack up 50,000 players, but their competitor, Poker Stars, smashed them by having an analogous tournament and having 65,000 players playing in it.

How did Poker Stars do it? They offered an excessively similar tournament for a fragment of the cost, let alone they clearly have a bigger player pool than Full Tilt Poker. Also, Full Tilt Poker put a cap on their tournament at 50,000. Now if you're seeking to break records, why would you set a cap?

On any note, online poker players really are the only breaking records here. For mere dollars, lucky winners are walking away with giant prizes. Full Tilt Poker’s tournament held a prize pool of $500K, while Poker Stars tournament offered up a complete prize pool of $130K. The winner of the whole Tilt Poker “The Record Breaker” tournament will walk away with $45,000.00, risking only $5.00.

This will only be a starting to the battle of the who can create the bigger tournament, as speculations see Full Tilt Poker trying this once again, but with a way smaller buy-in. The wonderful thing about these form of battles, the web players are those benefiting essentially the most.

Despite Neilander's warning, Berkley was recommended by the board to receive a license. However, the verdict isn't official until approved by all the Gaming Commission considers it, probably by the top of the month.

Atlantic City Casino Revenues Still Plummeting Past Recession End

Even though the recession appears to be over, Atlantic City casino revenues are still on a gentle decline.

Play Now at Las Vegas USA Casino! While much of the U.S. is slowly returning back from the consequences of the recession, casinos in Atlantic City continue to look steady decline of their revenues. In keeping with statistics from the brand new Jersey Casino Control Commission, the gaming industry in Atlantic City saw income for July drop five percent from last year's numbers.

Only the Atlantic City Hilton and the Trump Taj Mahal were in a position to report better business this year than in 2009. Nine other casinos suffered losses from the year previous, and people figures were significantly down from 2008.

Casino operators had used the national impact of the recession as a scapegoat for far of Atlantic City's gaming trouble, but other factors continue to ravage the area's gambling business. Increased competition in neighboring states has ended New Jersey's exclusivity at the East Coast, and the benefit of online casinos continues to attract players in anticipation of the outlet of the U.S. gaming market.

Governor Christie has proposed a state takeover of the city's gambling district, however it is debatable whether New Jersey can be in a position to reverse the direction of the devastation simply through better branding and advertising.

State Senator Ray Lesniak has led the best way on several bold concepts designed to rescue Atlantic City's gaming business, including challenging the federal ban on sports betting and suggesting intrastate online gambling run by AC casinos, however the measures are opposed by powerful foes both locally and nationally.

In the meantime, New Jersey's dependable cash cow seems to have gone hooves up.

WSOP 2014: Requiem for the adult onesie

You've met the man before. He's the person who has just gone bust on the table. He looks forlorn, lonely, and lost. Everyone looks at him expectantly, but nobody can summon the courage to say, "Sir, it is time to go."

Today, the WSOP Main Event field will lose greater than 200 players. Most of them can have the wherewithal to face and leave. If not, a member of the workers can help them up and guide them compassionately around the floor to the payout cage.

There is not any such person to assist the vendors within the Rio Convention Center hallway, a spot where that sort of compassion could also be needed a lot more.

See, vendors come from in every single place to tap the poker market during its biggest annual convention. The walk to the Amazon Room takes players past sunglasses, tax services, ion bracelets, Bluetooth headphones, phone cases, books, and absolutely anything else a poker player may want.

The experienced salesman within the vendor community knows something: there's nearly no reason to order and pay for space within the Rio after Day 2 of the WSOP. After that day, the crowds die down, the hallways get quiet, and the danger of walk-up-traffic having its interest piqued by an adult-sized onesie gets pretty small.

zoop it up.JPG

Can I interest anyone in pajamas? Anyone?

Don't take my word for it. Go get yourself a burrito within the WSOP Poker Kitchen and...oh, you can't, since the Poker Kitchen closed last night. So did the snacks kiosk near the exits. The WSOP knows there are just such a lot of mouths to feed, and there won't be enough to justify the price of employing men to make tacos.

Still, there are rookie vendors who remain. There's a young man wearing a green onesie looking down the hallway at the off-chance someone will walk in off the road and wish head-to-toe warmth and coziness in this 101° day. There's another guy who holds up a phone case and says softly, "Case on your phone?" when an individual walks by holding a phone in a case. After weeks of constructing passers-by attempt to balance on one foot with an ion bracelet and without, the bracelet sales people have just given up and do not say anything. The fantasy poker guy literally has his eyes closed and his head in his hands. It's over.

But, still they continue to be. One could only assume they rented their space long just before the WSOP and now--like a father forcing his kids to enjoy another day on vacation on the Museum of Lost Causes--the vendors feel compelled to ride it out to the bitter end.

Bear in mind, none of those vendors are have the type of title sponsorship access that the large companies do. You will not see an American flag onesie hanging above the featured table area alongside Ruffles and Natural Light. The dealers at the TV table won't be wearing ion bracelets, and you'll be damned sure they are not going to be standing on one foot while somebody tries to tip them over.

Main Event Bracelet Feature Table Event 65 Day 5 2014 WSOP Giron 7JG4745.JPG

The WSOP feature table (Photo: Joe Giron/Poker Photo Archive)

No, these vendors have a hallway, and it's almost all they've.

Someone with a heart must approach these lonely people, offer a warm hand, and say, "Sir. Yes, you within the onesie. It is time to go."

National Gambling Monopolies Offer Worst World Cup Betting Odds

A new survey shows online gambling monopolies within the EU gave consumers a consistently worse payout via sports betting odds than private sector Internet casinos facing competition.

Play Now at Rome Casino A study of the lines featured at online gambling sites throughout Europe in the course of the recent World Cup has found that coutries through which state monopolies handle all gaming gave consumers by far the worst betting odds. The evidence, which comes as Europe struggles to force EU member nations to stick to open trade policies regarding Internet gambling, shows clearly that nations operating monopolies are using their competitive advantage to harm their very own residents.

Using data from both the monopolies and legal private online sports betting operators, the survey showed players taking the well-liked side in every match won 38 percent less on the state sites, and people playing underdogs throughout won 35 percent less. Odds from the national gambling sites were on average 32 percent worse than operators in competitive circumstances.

The report, compiled by Right2bet, backs the group's claims that protectionist laws hurt consumers greater than the cited risks of open competition. Many gaming analysts, including OCA'S Sherman Bradley, are saying the security citations are really a mask covering government revenue grabs on the cost of citizens.

Intriguingly, the study found sharp differences between certain state operators. While Germany offered its players the worst odds to be found, over 48 percent less return than the typical private site, the Danish gaming operator was found to be the nearest in value to competitive sites. Danske Spiel, the report said, could also be altering its position as new laws will soon open Denmark to other online casinos.

A player who made every correct choice and bet $20 per match would have, on average, made $629 less with monopolies. The argument that these organizations are necessary for public protection is in tatters, revealing the federal government greed for money lurking within the background.

States Rumbling Over US Sports Betting Ban

The federal law against sports betting is causing many states to complain as they appear to expand gambling for revenue.

Play Now at Slots Oasis! With gambling the principle solution for politicians trying to continue their massive spending without raising taxes, the federal ban within the US on sports betting is coming under increasing attack by the states. Some states are officially asking Congress to repeal the pro and Amateur Sports Protection Act of 1992, while others are demanding the courts act.

State legislatures in both Missouri and Rhode Island have measures that entice Congress to take away the gambling ban on sports within the US. And New Jersey and Delaware have both initiated legal maneuvers to force the law to be withdrawn.

Delaware, having lost in an earlier battle with the NFL at the exact nature of PASPA, is pursuing its case to the united states Supreme Court. Delaware, that is one among four states grandfathered in for the suitable to function sports betting, was shocked to listen to a US Appeals Court rule that it's only eligible for previously employed methods of sports gambling.

New Jersey state Senator Ray Lezniak is set to clear the trail to saving his state's casinos and gambling interests. Lesniak is on the heart of a suit seeking the striking of PASPA for discriminating a number of the states, a contravention of the Commerce Clause.

Lesniak may be already pushing legislation in New Jersey allowing sports betting at Atlantic City casinos. While the federal law may block implementation of Lesniak's state constitutional amendment, passing the bill would put New Jersey in place to behave immediately when the federal law is changed.

"And when it passes with support from 75 percent of our voters it'll send a message to these in Congress that that is something people want," Lesniak told ESPN.com.

2006 UIGEA Law Now Harming Legal US Gaming In 2013

Published on November 17, 2013 by Tom Jones

The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act was installed place in 2006, with essentially the most prevalent a part of the law placing an emphasis on financial institutions blocking transactions to and from online gaming sites. Seven years after the ill-advised law was created, it's now causing problems among states with regulated Internet gambling.

Nevada, Delaware, and New Jersey have all spent the past several years creating laws regulating online casinos. During the last few months, Nevada has launched their first online sites, with New Jersey set to take action on November 26th. Operators of those sites, however, are finding that financial institutions haven't yet adapted to the legalized type of gaming.

Operators are complaining that PayPal, American Express Co., and Bank of America Corp. has been declining transactions to regulated online sites. With just a few states having regulated the industry thus far within the US, financial institutions are erring at the side of caution.

"There are still things that may get it wrong regardless of controls in place," said Steve Kenneally, Vp of the yankee Bankers Association.

Visa and MasterCard have taken a unique approach. The 2 bank card companies have updated their coding to permit for regulated online gambling transactions to move through. While the bank card companies have adapted, it's still as much as the issuing bank whether the transactions are processed.

"Until the entire kinks are worked out of this new regulated system, customers are going to continue to have their transactions declined," said analyst Brad Simmons. "THE METHOD to regulated online gambling have been grueling, and until federal laws change, there'll remain obstacles for regulated online casinos."

While some bank card companies have began to adapt, American Express is hoping true to their company principle of not allowing their cards for use for any type of gambling.

California Politician Explains Provision That Requires In-Person Online Poker Deposits

Aside from the truth that major players in California’s gaming industry don’t support the most recent online poker bill to hit the Golden State as a result of “bad actor” issue, there was some serious concern about how the bill requires in-person registration and initial deposits.

The argument against this type of rule is that it creates an additional step for purchasers wishing to play online poker. It's not industry standard to require players to turn up at a physical location to enroll and get their online poker funds. New Jersey, which has the most important regulated online poker market within the United States, doesn’t have this requirement. Actually, Garden State players having a troublesome time depositing as a result of bank and bank card restrictions is arguably the principle this is why that online poker market is lower than $2 million a month, far in need of previous expectations.

California state lawmaker Mike Gatto penned an op-ed for utsandiego.com that explains his bill, specifically in relation to how he thinks it could possibly supplement brick-and-mortar businesses. One person Tweeted in keeping with Gatto: “Making people join in person would doom online poker to failure. People won’t bother.” Another said the present proposal might finally end up “killing initial sign-ups.”

Here’s how Gatto thinks it'll work:

Somewhat paradoxically, the most productive practices for the innovative world of online poker would involve brick-and-mortar businesses and borrow from established business practices. Similar to opening a bank account, the one strategy to open an online-poker account in California could be to provide yourself in person at a “branch” and be “validated” by showing two varieties of identification. Under this proposal, qualified existing gaming establishments, even those which don’t operate a poker website, could function initial validators, so long as they meet stringent security criteria. Initial deposits would occur in person, although subsequent ones may well be made online. AN ANALOGOUS rule would apply for cash-outs above a certain quantity or frequency.

One of the worries about online gaming (from the anti-online gaming camp) is that minors could possibly access the sites. Gatto thinks his way of doing it might prevent that better than what current online identity verification can accomplish.

This system would elegantly solve the troubles opponents raise. It could greatly reduce the possibility of a minor being accepted into the system. It might also weed out potential money-launderers, like folks that walk in with suitcases of $100 dollar bills. And, it will allow local brick-and-mortar establishments, most that are too small to function an online-poker site, to nevertheless make the most of online poker, and would guarantee them some foot traffic. But most significantly, it'll also greatly discourage cheating and other illegal schemes. If a gambler had just completed an elaborate cheat, would he wish to occur in person and present himself to a safety professional to assemble his winnings?

It is worth noting that there hasn’t been any documented case of an underage gambler accessing online poker sites in Nevada, New Jersey or Delaware—the three states with state-regulated web poker industries. Depositing in person is sometimes an option, not a requirement.

California’s online poker bill might be discussed heavily in 2015. It continues to be seen what language within the current version will remain because the measure gets vetted by the industry and other politicians.

Las Vegas' Phil Ruffin Says Regulated Online Casinos Coming

Casino mogul Phil Ruffin says online casinos and Internet gambling could be regulated by the united states throughout the next decade.

Longtime Las Vegas gambling operator Phil Ruffin says online casinos will inevitably be regulated by Congress and made officially legal, even to the myopic US Department of Justice. Commenting in a written column published by the Las Vegas Sun, Ruffin said the opportunity of revenue will cause Congress to manage the web gambling industry throughout the next decade.

Ruffin says he doesn't think federal acceptance of online casinos will damage the Las Vegas Strip's business.

"I don’t think Internet gambling will hurt the casino industry," says Ruffin. "You can’t visit our shows at the Internet."

Ruffin added that online casinos may very well educate a broader segment of the general public about gaming, increasing the dimensions of the gambling market.

Ruffin purchased the Treasure Island Casino and Resort from MGM Mirage a year ago, paying about $775 million for Ruffinrip casino. On the time, it was thought the move can have been the primary of a sequence of divestitures by MGM and Harrah's, as debt payments forced the distinction of casino asset sales.

But both companies have managed to avHarrah's sales, and retain most in their Vegas casino properties. Ruffin previously owned the brand new Frontier casino, which he sold in 2007 to an organization which planned to construct a casiRuffinembling New York's Plaza Hotel, a project which has since been suspended.

IGT's Wheel of Fortune franchise here to stick

“There’s a reason Wheel of Fortune has consistently been voted the preferred game by players,” the narrator’s voice boomed throughout the speakers as past images of Wheel of Fortune flashed around the screen. “There’s a reason it’s stood the test of time. There’s a reason the Wheel of Fortune brand will bring more value in your floor than some other machine—jackpots, baby, jackpots!”

With over $3 billion in jackpots, $14 million because the largest jackpot paid, a $1 million jackpot every seven days, one life-changing jackpot every 44 hours and 954 millionaires created in 19 states, it’s no surprise that Wheel of Fortune is one of, if not the, most well liked slot games on casino floors today and inside the past 20 years.

When IGT originally approached Sony, the licenser of Wheel of Fortune, 20 years ago, “there really wasn’t a convention of using externally licensed brands from Hollywood, or from other consumer product areas, for slot machines,” said Joe Sigrist, vice president, global product development and operations for IGT. “So this was really some of the first attempts at using a certified brand for a slot machine. We did the primary couple of games and it really struck a chord with players right from the beginning. The success we’ve seen during the last TWENTY YEARS was really just built upon the unique success of the initial games and it’s been an unbelievable ride.”

The success of the sport can't only be attributed to its jackpot frequency on casino floors, but in addition to the household name created by the unique game show. Trademarked as “America’s Game,” Wheel of Fortunehas been at the air since 1975, with over 6,000 episodes, and has earned numerous Emmy wins and nominations.  The show itself has awarded over $200 million to winners within the years and $5.4 million to charity.

Wheel of Fortune the slot game was in casinos since 1996, debuting over 200 games through the years. The games have consistently been voted the preferred slot by players for the past 15 years, drawing crowds in with the spinning of the wheel and its popular chant, “WHEEL...OF...FORTUNE!”

“You’ve got the anticipation of where the wheel will ultimately stop, on top of that we’ve added the massive life-changing jackpots that experience always been part of the games we’ve developed,” Sigrist said.

Over the years IGT has brought various sorts of Wheel of Fortune games to operators and players. The franchise began as mechanical-reel games, and has quickly branched out to video slot and community-style play games. The most recent slot game, presented at G2E this year at the CrystalCore 42-inch immersive cabinet, is Wheel of Fortune Jackpot Paradise. In regards to the new games, Sigrist said that, “in all cases we integrate the jackpot, the chant, the spin of the wheel. We continue to make use of those elements and mix them in ways in which create diversity and several types of games for various players.”

When it involves the slot games, Sigrist said that the brand new CrystalCore platform is a game-changer for the franchise. While reminding attendees concerning the importance and prominence of the logo on casino floors at G2E, IGT presented its new platform displaying the cutting-edge features which will be delivered to the classic game. “It’s high-definition graphics, incredible sound and the facility to bring video clips,” he said. “In Jackpot Paradise we now have Vanna White custom video that helps players understand and get thinking about the sport. Over time, we’re fascinated about bringing an increasing number of interesting aspects of games according to the hardware.”

Now after signing a brand new agreement with Sony, Sigrist said the plan is to continue investing more into Wheel of Fortune to construct at the brand. The brand new contract has extended the terms of IGT’s rights and taken the brand new Wheel of Fortune social casino game to the company’s online platform, DoubleDown (www.doubledowncasino.com).

Sigrist said that IGT has only scratched the surface, they usually plan on rolling out a drumbeat of recent Wheel of Fortune games, including those who are familiar to brick-and-mortar players, in addition to new games designed specifically for internet gaming that incorporate skill-based gaming. “With our social casino DoubleDown and our recent take care of Sony, we've got the facility to develop and launch games [online] to succeed in social players,” Sigrist said.  “We just launched our first game [Wheel of Fortune Double Diamond, in September] which was doing phenomenally well. Over the following few months we’re going to be launching additional Wheel of Fortune games on DoubleDown.”

With the entire discuss skill-based gaming coming to fit machines, Sigrist said that’s where he sees the franchise going. “We believe given the sport show aspect of Wheel of Fortune, bringing the skill elements of the sport show into the slot games, goes to be very exciting going forward.” To construct at the recent success of Wheel of Fortune Double Diamond, IGT’s latest land-based game, launched in early November, Wheel of Fortune Triple Extreme Spin introduces new bonuses and gameplay straight from the ground to a desktop or mobile device.

“In general, Wheel of Fortune is a kind of unique properties that experience an out of this world long life,” said Sigrist, “People not just like to play it, but our game designers, after having done over 200 games over the years, still love building games for WOF. There’s something magical concerning the brand that sort of excites people, and that's very unique not just in gaming but within popular culture.”
