World Series of Poker $50,000 Poker Players Championship Field Grows In 2016NO Deposit bonus $43

The David 'Chip' Reese Memorial TrophyThe official numbers are in for the 2016 World Series of Poker $50,000 Poker Players Championship. A COMPLETE of 91 players posted the huge buy-in, up eight percent from 84 entries in 2015. Consequently the tournament built a complete prize pool of $4,368,000.

The eventual champion will earn the $1,296,097 first-place prize and the consideration of getting their name added to the David ‘Chip’ Reese Memorial Trophy. The highest 14 finishers will make the money, with a min-cash being worth $75,833.

Only three players hit the rail in the course of the first day of play in Stephen Chidwick, Abe Mosseri and Keith Gipson. Scott Seiver is the chip leader heading into day 2 with 593,000. Five prior champions of this event survived to day 2 in 2011 champion Brian Rast (463,900), 2008 champion Scotty Nguyen (357,600), 2015 champion Mike Gorodinsky (240,000), 2014 champion John Hennigan (200,900) and 2013 champion Matthew Ashton (136,900).

Another fact worth noting is that Esther Taylor-Brady is the one female entrant on this year’s event, with prior entrants like Jennifer Harmon, Vanessa Selbst and Melissa Burr opting to not play in 2016.

The event is scheduled to run over five days, with a winner to be determined on Wednesday, July 6.
