Former poker pro and currently Lithuanian politician Antanas “Tony G” Guoga has challenged Canada’s Prime Minister to a game of poker, promising to “take everything you have.”
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau raised eyebrows recently when he was asked a question about his favorite Baltic country. Trudeau responded, “That’s not a thing,” and apparently has pissed off a lot of people, though it appears most are just taking it as an opportunity to make fun of his intelligence.
In a YouTube video with other politicians from the Baltic region, Guoga issued the tongue-in-cheek challenge for a poker match between him and Trudeau.
Trudeau apparently isn’t laughing about the situation, as he says he was misinterpreted.
According to the Huffington Post, Trudeau later told Maclean’s, the magazine that interviewed him, that he meant that choosing a favorite Baltic nation was “not a thing.” He told the magazine that he of course knew the Baltics exist “because he used to date a woman from one of those countries.”
Guoga, who is a member of the European Parliament for Lithuania, was recently blocked from running for office in Lithuania itself because he also is an Australian citizen.
