It have been several weeks since New Jersey lawmakers passed legislation that will bring casino gambling to the web within the state. Online gamblers are actually getting antsy looking ahead to Governor Chris Christie to sign the bill.

Christie have been a tremendous proponent of helping Atlantic City casinos during these tough economic times, but he has yet to deal with whether he'll sign the web gambling legislation. The worry of many online gamblers is that Christie may bow to political pressure in regards to the online gaming bill.

There is pressure coming not just from within his own state, but from other states besides. If Christie signs the bill, he likely would lose all chance of moving forward in a countrywide office. That will be devastating to the governor if he has higher aspirations that being governor.

On the opposite hand, Christie could gain the support of millions of gamblers if he were to sign the bill. Online gamblers in almost every state would know the governor that created the primary online gaming regulations within the US.

Other states would likely follow, and the web gaming craze could reach a fever pitch should Christie and New Jersey lawmakers pass this bill. California and Florida are already regulating online poker, and if New Jersey provides a blueprint, other states could soak up the problem as well.

Even if Christie signs the bill, it's likely there can be a battle between the state and the government. Federally, lawmakers have chosen to continue prohibition of online gambling, and federal lawmakers won't take kindly to a state circumventing federal laws.
