George Danzer wins WSOP Player of the Year

At one point last summer, you will have sat up late at night watching two of poker's finest gentlemen play Razz on the World Series of Poker. Brandon Shack-Harris faced off against Team PokerStars Pro George Danzer in a match that could've gone either way. Both men were having ridiculously good summers on the WSOP. By the point that summer was done, both men were in contention to win the WSOP Player of the Year title.

Late last night, just because it did over that Razz table in Vegas, the title went to Danzer.

Shack-Harris and Danzer both went to Australia for the WSOP APAC events. Again, both had great showings, but Danzer did it just a bit better by winning a 3rd bracelet.

It made the Team Pro a part of history. After struggling for years to get gold around his wrist for the primary time, he won all three of his WSOP bracelets within the same year, an accomplishment just a few people have achieved. Shack-Harris needed a large finish in a single of the last two WSOP APAC events. He didn't get it. With that, Danzer became the WSOP Player of the Year.

Danzer had this to mention on Twitter after it was over.

With that, we provide our congratulations to 2 of the nicest men in poker on a well-fought battle, and our biggest applause to Team Pro George Danzer, WSOP Player of the Year.
