Australian bookmaker Tabcorp announced it's offering an application for iPhones allowing users to play at its online gambling games. The TAB Sportsbet iPhone will permit users to wager at Tabcorp's special cell phone website on horse racing.
The application will allow betting on races, aside from parlays. Results and payouts could be carried for both the present day and the day before. The telephone may also be set to alert owners when a definite horse or jockey is racing.
The app can even give trackside information, akin to weather conditions, and review past performances, acting as a racing form in addition to a bookmaker.
Senator Nick Xenophon of Australia denounced iPhone gambling applications last month. He said children's versions of gambling games created a want to gamble at an early age, and that age control over mobile apps is inadequate to give protection to youngsters from gaming corruption.
Tabcorp's move comes shortly after Betfair was approved by Apple to supply a gambling application. The agreements are seen as a vital change in policy for Apple, which previously shied from connections to gambling.
