English HarbourThe online gambling industry has been forever shaken by recent indictments by the US government. Two more online casinos have decided to close their doors for good and walk away with the funds they have made over the years, rather than face possible indictments.
Millionaire and English Harbour casinos are both cutting off their services to online gamblers forever. The move for both casinos come after Full Tilt, PokerStars, and other online gaming industry payment processors were indicted by the Department of Justice.
English Harbour had been accepting US players, but after the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act was created, they, like many other casinos, pulled out of the US market. Now it appears the pressure has become too big for the casinos' owners to keep serving customers from other areas of the world.
As for Millionaire casino, analysts believe they are closing their online casino for the same reason. With no current charges against them, Millionaire casino owners may have wanted to quit while they were ahead, something that other casino executives failed to do before indictments were handed down.
Since Black Friday, as it has become known in the gaming industry, many sites have started to reevaluate how and where they are doing business. Full Tilt has been one of the biggest losers in the aftermath of the US crackdown, having lost their license to operate in the UK.
Full Tilt has not yet paid American players back the money that was in their accounts. Professional poker player Phil Ivey filed a lawsuit against Full Tilt, but has reconsidered the lawsuit after word of an impending sale of Full Tilt surfaced. European investors are expected to take control of and infuse money into the ailing company.
