ANZPT6 Sydney Final Table: Nine, Eight, Seven

It didn't take long for us to lose our first player from today's ANZPT Sydney final table. In fact, it will take just two hands to look Brent Taunton eliminated because the final table got off to a rocketing start.

Milan Gurung raised to 50,000 from under the gun with Taunton and Peco Stojanovski making the decision to look a flop of 6♠Q♠T♦. That's when things got a bit crazy.

Action checked across the table to Stojanovski who bet 125,000. Gurung folded but Taunton check-raised to 400,000 which represented most of his stack. Stojanovski thought briefly before announcing all in and Taunton called off his last chips. It was Stojanovski's Q♥T♠ top-two pair against the A♠9♠ flush draw of Taunton.

The turn and river bricked off to peer Taunton to the cashier in ninth place for $17,400.

It would then take a short while for our next casualty, but approaching the tip of Level 23, we lost both Milan Gurung and Nathan Sawyers in quick succession.

Gurung survived one all-in clash through the final table, but couldn't make it two when his A♣T♠ fell to Josh Redhouse's K♣Q♦. A king at the flop was enough to look Redhouse collect and end Gurung's run in eighth place for $23,350.

He was soon followed by Nathan Sawyers.

Sawyers started the day because the second biggest stack, but not much went right for him in this final table. After sliding right down to the quick stack, Sawyers cold four-bet all in from the large blind with A♥J♣. Oliver Gill was the preflop raiser at the button and he got clear of pocket eights, but Peco Stojanovski wasn't going anywhere along with his pocket queens.

The board ran out 4♦Q♠2♠K♦K♠ to enhance Stojanovski to an entire house to eliminate Sawyers in seventh place for a pleasant $29,750 score.

So that leaves us with just six players remaining in quest of the ANZPT Sydney crown. Oliver Gill landed a large double as much as get himself back into contention, however the big mover today as been Peco Stojanovski. He's as much as 2.7 million in chips for a considerable chip lead, while Steven Zhou has slipped back onto the quick stack with about 900,000.
