Normandie Casino, home to the oldest card room within the state of California, will soon close its doors after Golden State gaming regulators revoked its license. No date was given yet.
According to The Daily Breeze, the California Gambling Control Commission took away the license since the owners was convicted of cash laundering. Though, California has given them a four-month reprieve to sell the property, possibly to Hustler Casino owner Larry Flynt.
A sale to Flynt would most likely involve a renovation to the property, the report said.
Early this year, four members of the Miller family, which has owned the casino since 1947, admitted to helping high-rollers launder $1.38 million. They were accused of not reporting several large cash transactions to the federal government.
Normandie agreed to pay millions to the federal government stemming from the cash laundering investigation. Not one of the owners faced criminal charges.
The property has 24 poker tables.
A total of 380 employees might be laid off if the valuables closes before being bought and transfered to different management, the report said.
