Memorial Day Could also be Slow At Online Casinos

Usually when a vacation rolls around, online casino executives are jumping with joy over the likelihood that a rise in gambling activity is probably going. With Memorial Day arriving, the thrill isn't as great because it have been in recent years.

"The recent indictments have placed a damper on expectations for Memorial Day this year," said Gaming Analyst Noah Black. "Couple the indictments with the concept that memorial is traditionally a vacation that US residents spend outdoors, and it's not a recipe for fulfillment for online casinos."

Many casinos have stopped accepting US players within the wake of the indictments that saw PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker, and Absolute Poker leave the united states market. In addition, several of the most important payment processors for online casinos have halted operations.

Despite the percentages being against a large turnout, casinos are still offering up tournaments and free play bonuses to take a look at and attract players throughout the holiday weekend. The tournaments have traditionally been a hook that gamblers cannot resist, but this year could be a little different.

"I used to play slot tournaments online the entire time, but lately it's been hard to seek out a casino where I WILL play and that i can trust I WILL BE ABLE TO get paid," said one online gambler who wished to stay anonymous. "It's simply too risky at the present time to position my money in an internet casino account."

That is the stance that millions of usa citizens have taken for the reason that indictments last month. While the gamblers are being more cautious, it doesn't mean they're giving up on playing online.

"The federal government must get laws passed so all of us can enjoy online casinos," said Oliver Bendere. "If we will be able to play at a casino in our hometown, then we should always be capable to play online as well."

Harrah's Signs With Dragonfish for Online Gambling Software

The online gambling software deal Harrah's signed with Dragonfish indicates a technique no less than by this land-based casino operator to buy as opposed to develop Internet gaming systems.

Play Now at Golden Casino! Harrah's Entertainment took your next step at the road to expanding its brand into the net gambling market this week by signing Dragonfish as its supplier of Internet gaming software. Dragonfish, a subsidiary of 888, will provide the world's largest land-based casino operator with online poker and gambling software, in addition to payment systems and technical support.

The deal is a blockbuster within the Internet gambling world, as speculation was rampant in regards to the nature of the industry because the US market prepares to open. By choosing to sign with Dragonfish as opposed to develop its own software internally, Harrah's is also signalling that the land-based operators may bring their brands to partner with existing software companies, instead of create their own.

"This seems a wise approach, as Vegas companies have well-established brands that might only fail if the software was of inferior quality," says OCA gaming analyst Sherman Bradley. "It also bodes well for the present online casino industry, as it signifies that the industry structure, that's imposed largely by the software providers, will likely remain the same."

Harrah's announced the primary two brands to be featured under the brand new deal, the arena Series of Poker and Caesar's Casino. A introduction date was not announced, although 888 CEO Gigi Levy said the corporate would use the following 18 months to appreciate its full potential.

Harrah's handle Dragonfish doesn't presently involve exposure to US customers, and 888 has stayed away from the united states market . This will also work to Harrah's benefit when US regulators are deciding which online casinos to license.

ANZPT Melbourne: Edison Nguyen victorious!

We knew once we walked to the Crown Poker site this morning that we weren't going to be leaving for some time. With 34 players joining us for Day 3 of the ANZPT Melbourne Main Event, we were still a long, great distance from crowning a champion and awarding the $253,000 top prize.

Some 33 eliminations, 16 hours of play, quite a few coffee and a Red Bull or two later, and young gun Edison Nguyen has written another chapter in his rapidly blossoming poker resume as our ANZPT Melbourne champion!

edison nguyen wins anzpt6 melbourne.jpg

Three-handed play was a brutal affair. Dennis Huntly, Edison Nguyen and Corey Kempson all had very contrasting styles which saw the chips ebb and flow for well over three hours. All three players had moments where they ruled the pack, but additionally they experienced moments at the verge of elimination.

In the end, we knew it will must take something nasty to damage the deadlock and when Dennis Huntly got his last chips within the middle with A♥K♠ against Edison Nguyen's J♦7♣, Huntly was almost definitely expecting a double up. The flop of J♥A♠6♦ kept Huntly in front, and the 2♥ turn changed nothing. But the 7♥ river brought two pair for Nguyen and the top for a gallant Huntly in third place for $87,800 in prize money.

Dennis Huntly - 3rd place

Corey Kempson would hold a 5.4 million to 4.9 million lead over Edison Nguyen as heads-up play was set to commence, but that is where things got a little bit murky.

The two players decided to take a look at a possible deal. It was clear that Kempson was keen while Nguyen was reluctant, so it could take a generous offer to seal the deal. Despite holding the chip lead, Kempson conceded to provide Nguyen $210,000 to Kempson's $195,500 with the rest $7,500 left within the middle to play for everybody. was happy and the cards were back within the air.

However it was clear that something else was going on.

The wheeling and working Corey Kempson

Kempson desired to make it known that he was extremely tired and was able to gamble for the title and go home. Fair enough, but some strange play would see Kempson raise for 90% of his chips before folding for the remainder when Nguyen moved all in.

The clock was paused as ANZPT Commissioner Danny McDonagh and Crown Poker Tournament Director Joel Williams discussed the placement. McDonagh returned and questioned both players over the play which looked as if it would suggest a deal have been struck over the trophy. McDonagh implored both players to play it out with integrity, and with that, the sport continued.

Kempson managed to get the chips back with regards to even before the 2 players agreed to head all in without their cards to complete things once and for all. Kempson showed 6♦4♦ but Nguyen had that covered with Q♥6♣ because the final board can be spread 7♠9♥Q♦9♣4♥ crowning Edison Nguyen our champion!

---

At the beginning of the day, the 34 players all had the taste of finals fever as they harboured dreams of changing into the only to boost the trophy.

Michael Chrisanthopoulos (34th) was a surprise early casualty, while Anthony Aston (30th) and Phil Willcocks (27th) were also at the rail within the first two levels of the day.

The "Lukes" became heavily interested in the following session of play with Luke Brabin (23rd) and Luke Edwards (21st) failing to progress, while Luke Spano soared into the chip lead.

Anthony Legg (15th), Joe Reina (12th) and Robert Damelian (11th) were among those to fall in need of the overall table, but dinner plans were placed on hold until the overall table was reached.

An interesting dynamic at the final table bubble saw all five big stacks seated at the same table, because the shorties scrapped at the other. There have been quite a lot of double ups but eventually Michael Caruana was the only to fall because the final table of nine was set.

Dennis Huntly would carry the chip lead into the general table and he extended that advantage with the early elimination of Cameron Bryce. It was pocket sixes for Bryce but he ran smack bang into Huntly's aces to kick off the overall table with a bang.

However from there, the eliminations dried up and it could take another two hours to lose our next player. Gabriel Messo fell in eighth place which opened the floodgates with three eliminations within the space of fifteen minutes thanks largely to a double knockout. Corey Kempson's A♥Q♠ took on both Dylan Honeyman's A♦2♥ and Vincent Chua's pocket jacks but four spades on board sealed the deal for Kempson to flush two to the rail.

Wayde Rickhuss bumped into pocket kings to go away in fifth place and he was followed by Luke Spano in fourth when his A♣3♥ was no match for Corey Kempson's pocket nines.

It wasn't even midnight and with just three players left, we thought we were an opportunity to circumvent an extreme finish. Unfortunately some stubborn three-handed play dragged us into the wee hours of the morning before a slightly anti-climactic finish to the tournament left Edison Nguyen on top as our ANZPT Melbourne champion. Nguyen takes home $217,500 in prize money and has now taken over the lead within the ANZ Player of the Year race.

That wraps up our coverage of the ANZPT Melbourne event. Thanks for following along! The following major event at the local calendar is the APPT Auckland Event to be held at SKYCITY Auckland from November 15-23 and you may qualify at this time online at PokerStars. We are hoping to peer you there!

Macau Casino Revenue Could also be at Record Pace

The recession is long over in Macau, where gambling growth is again reaching fantastic numbers and casino revenue is setting records almost on a monthly basis.

Play Now at English Harbour! Revenue from casino gambling in Macau just reached an all-time high in January, but that record would possibly not stand longer than 60 days as March seems prone to reach a brand new zenith. Three weeks into the month, revenue already equals all of February and seems certain to top January.

January gaming totals in Macau equalled $1.8 billion, an increase of 63 percent from the similar month within the previous year, and essentially the most Macau's casinos had done. Thus far in March, revenue is already at $1.68 billion, with eight days still to move within the month.

Sands China trailed only SJM Holdings, the casino empire Stanley Ho built from his years owning the region's gambling monopoly, in market share. The advances in Macau and bright prospects had led Las Vegas Sands stock to transport from $10 a share on the New Year to nearly $22 today.

Macau's potential also resulted in MGM Mirage's decision this week to sell its shares in Atlantic City's Borgata Casino. MGM executives feel their partnership with Pansy Ho in Macau is more important than owning the highest casino in New Jersey.

Both Sands and MGM barely squeaked throughout the recession, as deb t payments came due right when income was in free fall. But Macau business prospects have bounced back faster and much higher than those of Las Vegas, so companies well-invested within the Far East has been the pick of the gaming industry recently.

Australian Football Star Says He Has Problem with Online Gambling

A football star from down under has gone public along with his difficulty in controlling his online gambling and horse race wagering, saying he needs counseling.

OnlineVegas.com! Brendan Fevola, a celeb forward for the Brisbane Lions of the Australian Football League, came forward and said problem gambling had put him deep in debt and driven him to hunt counseling. Fevola says he lost thousands and thousands of greenbacks betting on horse racing, slots, and online gambling, especially Internet poker.

Fevola adamantly denied his troubles had whatsoever affected him as a football player, and said he had never bet on a football game. He says he told his coach of his difficulties in January, and commenced undergoing therapy the next month.

Fevola is purely recently a Lion, as he was received in trade from Carlton after embarrassing the team with public drunkenness and crude behavior. Scientists have found that impulse control with gambling is in general related to broader control problems, akin to substance abuse and alcoholism.

"I have a gambling issue and that i need to knock it at the head," said Fevola at the AFL Footy Show. "It hasn't affected my footy, but by addressing it I AM HOPING I CAN pop out the opposite end a greater person."

According to reporters at the Australian TV show, Fevola owes over $100,000, including debts to a few bookmakers. Some sources say the debt is definitely over $300,000, but lawyers for Fevola dispute that, saying $100,000 continues to be high.

Tribal Casinos Show Profits Nationwide, Back Bradley Theory

Indian casinos provide an environment just like the Las Vegas casinos of twenty-five years ago. Gambling is the engine that drives them.

Play Now at Lucky 18 Casino! While much of the casino industry suffers from lost business and declining revenues, many Indian casinos continue to turn revenue growth and operate in an excessively healthy economic environment. Following reports from other states showing an analogous pattern, Oklahoma tribal casinos were revealed in a countrywide study to have had double-digit growth and total revenues with regards to $2.5 billion.

The same study reported that eight other states had growth at Indian casinos more than ten percent, and nationwide, while many casinos had negative growth, tribal gambling venues had a five percent growth rate.

Florida Seminole and Miccosukee casinos were stated within the study, Casino City's "Indian Gaming Industry Report" as having just a modest growth of slightly over two percent, however the emergence of blackjack and sophistication III slots on the tribal casinos would definitely cause a revenue spike this year.

These reports are continued confirmation of Online Casino Advisory's Sherman Bradley's theories in regards to the unusually poor returns by casinos within the current economic maelstrom. Bradley has argued that diversification clear of gambling by casino giants has caused the industry to become prone to downturns and recession, a theory that has gained much popularity since Bradley first voiced it.

Bradley said, 'Indian casinos provide an environment just like the Las Vegas casinos of twenty-five years ago. Gambling is the engine that drives them, and any shows, events, or satellite businesses are conducted with the one purpose of drawing gambling patrons.

"While Strip casinos may pull in families in search of pooltime and tours, and young hipsters in search of club life, the Indian venues have typically focused on making every decision in response to one question: will this increase wagering?

"Another factor, sometimes beyond the control of state-licensed operations, include the power to smoke in most tribal locations. Like 80s-era Vegas, tribal casinos are about gambling, with a couple of fringe benefits thrown in.

"I have said members of the gambling industry is in economic straits because they now not are within the gambling business. Tribal casinos have largely stayed within the gambling business, and their growth continues despite the country's economy."

2014 ACOP Main Event Day 4: Desperate dash to the overall table

It's hard to mention what day of a poker tournament is probably the most nerve-wracking.

Yesterday seemed quite stressful. There have been 62 players initially of the day and only 31 players were set to make the cash of the 2014 ACOP Main Event.

The beginning of the day was perhaps relaxed, but then because the money bubble loomed it's worthwhile to start feel the stress grow. That tension peaked during hand-for-hand play after which the pressure relaxed because the bubble burst.

By the time Day 3 was over, exactly seven players have been eliminated within the money, leaving us with the 24 players who will now return for Day 4 to stand an entire set of latest challenges and a brand new roughly pressure.

Because, of course, there are just nine spots at the final table and yet all 24 are eager to survive during the day and keep rising up those pay jumps and ultimately keep themselves in contention for the HK$6,300,000 (~US$815,000) top prize.

One player who's arguably the most productive pressed to just do that may be chip leader Yaxi "Yvonne" Zhu.

Yaxi Zhu ACOP .jpg

Yaxi Zhu seeking to make her first major final table

It was an enormous Day 3 for Zhu as she became the primary player over seven-figures in chips and ultimately capped off the day by eliminating Mike "Timex" McDonald to complete up with 1,019,000.

Zhu is one among two ladies left within the field, with the opposite Team PokerStars Pro Celina Lin.

Making it deep in a poker tournament at PokerStars LIVE Macau is true in Lin's comfort zone. She has done it such a lot of times before and is the one two-time Macau Poker Cup Red Dragon champion. A LARGE lead to the ACOP, however, has eluded Lin to this point and she or he can be seeking to change that.

Celina Lin Happy ACOP.jpg

Celina Lin enjoying another deep run in Macau

Like usual, the women are certainly well represented here in Macau with Lin and Zhu, but they're faced with stiff competition from some very prominent players of the other sex.

There are big-name internationals like Sorel Mizzi, Terrence Chan, Byron Kaverman, Ami Barer, Dimitar Danchev and Joseph Cheong still alive and searching to take the title out of Macau.

Joseph Cheong ACOP Day4.jpg

Joseph Cheong made the Super High Roller final table a couple of days ago

There also are well-known locals joining the internationals within the quest for victory equivalent to Raidan Kan, Kai Yat Fam, Zuo 'ST' Wang and Sunny Jung.

If the name Sunny Jung sounds familiar that's because he have been here before and in fact went directly to win the 2013 ACOP Main Event for an excessively large score of greater than half one million US dollars.

Sunny Jung ACOP Day4.jpg

Sunny Jung seeking to become the primary two-time ACOP champ

There is not any doubt that making the overall table goes to be a hotly contested affair. It is going to take quite a very long time too, with players having a large average stack and levels lasting 90 minutes each.

You may be capable of finding full live reports, results and have coverage here at the 2014 ACOP page on the PokerStarsBlog, so stay tuned and discover who makes the overall table!

Are pink drinks a cure for tilt? PCA Mega Sats offer an opportunity to determine

It's a narrative that looks annually but never really gets old. We typically notice it at the first day of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, although sometimes it's earlier because an eager member of staff will already begin poring in the course of the list of players who've qualified for the principle Event even before the brand new Year hangover has worn off.

They're on the lookout for one player in particular, the player within the Bahamas, playing poker in a luxury hotel, for the smallest amount of cash.

Invariably there's someone frequently Event there for a couple of dollars, having turned the cost of a latte right into a package including seat, accommodation, flight, and spending money worth $16,000. But when you look harder -- aha! -- there they are, the Mega-Path qualifiers within the Bahamas for 1 FPP.

It's a narrative as old because the PCA itself and again it usually is your name that leaps out at us as you're making the trip of a life-time for approximately the cost of the card cup that the latte we mentioned earlier comes served in.

All this weekend, including today (Friday) you can begin your PokerStars Caribbean Adventure for as low as 1 FPP (you might have considered trying to regard yourself to re-buys), or alternatively in a single of our other satellites, with buy-ins to fit every bank roll -- from FPPs, to some dollars, to a couple thousand. If things go your way you may be at the beach in no time.

Check out the PokerStars client for details. In case you are a PS7 user click "Live Events", after which select the PCA tab from the menu at the left hand side. Follow the link to the PCA Event Lobby to search out an entire range of satellites.

The PCA is the most well liked event at the PokerStars calendar, happening on the beautiful Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island. It's where you're never various minutes from beautiful beaches and clear blue sea. It is the roughly place that even supposing things don't go as you hoped on the table, they more than likely will off them. It's well known that pink drinks with umbrellas in them have for years served because the best cure for tilt.

For more information about the PCA itself take a look at the web site. Meanwhile get your trunks out of mothballs, and good luck this weekend.

Monster Pot Mondays, and Greenstein's billions

It was back to record setting ways this week, and it was 'Kleppr' again that was raking the largest pots. In one session on November 3, the yankee player won six hands worth in way over 2B chips - including a brand new record hand of 3.68B. He now holds the highest four spots within the all time list.

We'll get to all that during only a second, but first we wish to return to that day Team Pro Barry Greenstein decided to play the Sunday Billion...and won it. We would have liked to understand both why he decided to play it and what winning it meant. So we asked him.

"It's good that I WILL BE ABLE TO represent PokerStars by playing within the Sunday Billion. When we get real money games back within the US, obviously I WILL BE playing within the Sunday Million instead," he said. "People continually thank me for enjoying with them after I play in play money games. They're serious recreational players and wouldn't ever have an opportunity to play with a certified player if a few of us didn't take a while to play in events like these."

greenstein iom billion.jpg

Barry Greenstein playing live within the Isle of Man last year

Greenstein told he still finds enough of a challenge within the big play money games.

"It's always fun to win when you've conditioned yourself to be a successful poker player," he said. "IN FACT I realize it is not real money but you'll sometimes just view online play, whether for cash or for fun, as playing to get bigger numbers at the screen than your opponents, that is almost like playing a online game".

Now, directly to what happened this week.

The mega hand came about in a rare three-way encounter on the nosebleed 5M/10M stakes. Some heavy pre-flop raising eventually shook out 'gragon.king' but 'ron ooster' was happy to look a flop for 160M. It cost an extra 330M to continue on a board of 7h Td 7d. A 3RD seven hit the turn and the players got all their chips in with a chance and a shove. The river brought a 6.

The players turned over their hands to show a fantastic high-card clash between AQ and AK, with the upper kicker playing and securing the entire pot for 'Kleppr'. The hand that folded pre-flop? A6.

Just 20 minutes prior the similar combination of players had come agonisingly on the subject of beating the prevailing biggest pot record (3.6B set on October 25) with a hand that weighed in at 3.56B chips. On that occasion though, the board were a lot more generous with 'Kleppr' prevailing against 'ron ooster' with a flopped ace high flush against a flopped two pair.

The only other player to register a 2B pot this week was Italian 'philmzycal'. It was the third such time of breaching the landmark figure for a real Monster Pot. The similar player managed to top the list of Omaha hands for the week, claiming a 1.1B chip pot at showdown against 'Divus' and 'LuckDr' within the 1M/2M game.

At the 2.5M/5M level there has been the standard mixture of short-handed action. The most important pot of 1.66B was produced on Tuesday by Norwegian 'rosco2000239' when his overpair held up against pocket 5s on a low, raggy board.

Not far behind was Chinese player 'Tiger Chong' who made quads against the entire house of 'domenico-i15' in an extremely feisty 6-Max game. That 1.61B chip pot just made it into the full top 10 for the week.

The biggest pot measured in blinds was generated on the 500K/1M level where '3rdWind' took down 692 BBs with bottom two pair against the flopped top pair of 'Tirto W'. For many the hand would have probably played out without escalating to such stratospheric levels - but raises were found on every street to supply an enormous hand.

After six weeks of the Monster Pot Monday Report, there are the highest ten hands:

NY Post Prints Disgraced Professor's Online Gambling Screed

Some mainstream news outlets haven't discovered that Professor John Kindt is a tainted source for scientific study of online gambling, leading to the publication of a brand new York Post story full of inaccuracies.

Cherry Red Casino! Professor John Kindt was demonstrated by Online Casino Advisory and others to have abandoned his scientific detachment in his eagerness to besmirch online gambling. But this week, Kindt found a new, national sourrce that published his lies and misleading statements within the Big apple Post, because the paper was apparently blind to the tattered reputation of the Illinois academic.

Kindt wrote a commentary saying that giving US citizens the liberty to make a choice whether to gamble on the net would create an economic crisis worse than the subprime mortgage meltdown, an absurd conclusion consistent with OCA gaming analyst Sherman Bradley. Kindt used familiar lies, stating that online gambling is cited by gaming experts "...BECAUSE THE "crack cocaine" for addicting new gamblers," ignoring findings from sources world wide including Harvard Medical School and the federal government of South Africa that Internet gaming poses only the mildest threat of addiction.

Kindt cites the infamous study conducted because the 1999 US National Gambling Impact Study Commission, a rigged survey which had on its panel such prejudiced representatives as James Dobson of the religious fundamentalist Do something about the Family. Joined in an alliance of convenience on this charade to slander online gambling were the highest executives of Las Vegas casino interests, on the time dead set against allowing Internet competition.

But Kindt's documented personal history reveals him for the demagogue he's. His studies leading to writings that decried Internet gambling were found to be "tainted by subjectivity," in line with Dr. Jon Griffin of the Drake Law Review. Peer review of Kimndt's economic research into online gambling found Kindt's work "doesn't agree to the conventions of scholarship," and said the study "depends upon various rhetorical devices common to advertising, public relations, editorializing, and ideological discourse."

Kindt's religious ties to concentrate on the Family have led him to disregard sober and objective findings at the safety of online gambling, findings acknowledged by experts starting from Keith Whyte of the National Council on Problem Gambling to Dr. Howard Shaffer of Harvard Medical. The unhappy thing is that national publications just like the Post fail to correctly check Kindt's history before lending him creedence by printing his fallacies.
