Weekend Review: Up the swonnny, and down in Macau

A straight forward weekend on PokerStars designed to suit all tastes. Here's how things turned out.

-- swonnny wins the Sunday Million
-- Merin09 of Poland wins the Warm-up
-- The Asia Championship of Poker gets under way in Macau

Canadian player swonnny took honours in the Sunday Million at the second time of asking. As Kristin Bihr reported, swonnny, who took $179,740 along with the title, went deep in the Million back in March, finishing 16th. This time there was no doubt, finishing things off with aplomb.

Meanwhile in the Warm-Up Merin09 of Poland was having similar success. Both of the headline Majors were won without deals, which amounted to more than $80,000 for Merin09 who started the final table second in chips, and steered his stack around the likes of Andrey "ThePateychuk" Pateychuk and Carter "cswidler" Swidler at the final table. Jason Kirk has the full story.

Meanwhile in the world of live poker things got interesting over in Macau where the Asia Championship of Poker kicked off in the early hours of today. More and more these events appeal to the bigger names in the game, with High Rollers such as Mustapha Kanit, Stephen Chidwick, Pratyush Buddiga, Erik Seidel, and recent EPT Barcelona winner John Juanda making the trip to Asia. One name stood out among them all, that of Ronaldo Nazário, who will be playing his first ACOP event on Day 1B. Read that story on the PokerStars Blog.

Meanwhile here are those results in full.
