Poker Central, the world’s first 24/7 poker TV network, introduced it’s marquee event in 2015: the Super High Roller Bowl. The first running of the high stakes event and Poker PROduction’s coverage of the tournament were both great successes and as a result the Super High Roller Bowl is back for 2016.
This year the tournament will feature a $300,000 buy-in, down from half-a-million last year. The event will play out seven handed, with a 49-seat cap and 14 seats being reserved for Aria’s non-professional super high rollers.
“That only leaves 35 seats for other players,” said Clint Stinchcomb, CEO of Poker Central. “As interest has already built up, we expect to sell out quickly.” ARIA will begin accepting player deposits to lock-in their seats on January 22nd.”
Also worth noting is the fact that sponsors will be adding $300,000 to the prize pool this year, making this event negative rake. Organizers are predicting a first-place prize of $5 million and a total prize pool of $15 million.
“There are few poker events that can change the landscape of the game overnight — the Super High Roller Bowl is one of them,” said Stinchcomb. “The 2016 Super High Roller Bowl will be even more exciting than last year’s!”
In 2015 Brian Rast topped a field of 43 players in the $500,000 event to win $7,525,000 after defeating Scott Seiver heads-up.
Who will be the next Super High Roller Bowl champion? We will have to wait until June to find out.
