This year's Americas Cup winners' photo won't feature Team Peru. A Mexican clean sweep within the semi-finals, followed by a loss to Colombia in a subsequent play-off, quickly put paid to such ideas. Instead, the Peruvian quintet will take 'just' $2,500 each back to their home country. Can we see them when the following Americas Cup-style tournament rolls into paradise? It's impossible to mention. That is, unless in fact we're talking about Luis Felipe Villaran Bedoya.

Or as I REALLY LIKE to name him, "Mr Peru".

This weekend Mr Peru represented his country on the poker tables for a 3rd straight year. In 2012 he was a part of an international Cup of Poker winning side and personally collected greater than $22,500. A year later he added $2,500 after his team finished fourth in a preceding Americas Cup of Poker in Panama.

Yet now, stood within the brightly lit, marble-floored hallway that leads from the Imperial Ballroom back to the Atlantis Resort's thousands of hotel rooms, Mr Peru looks a bit deflated about today's $2,500 prize.

"It's a disappointment, but it's poker," he says of Team Peru's fourth place finish. "WE SUPPLY the hopes of the poker community and it feels very, excellent (to symbolize Peru). I BELIEVE a large number of proud."

Dressed in his team's red and white colours, Mr Peru's "proud" is obviously on display here in Atlantis. When he is not living his other life as stock broker in Lima, he plays tournaments on PokerStars on a semi-professional basis, and during the last few years his presence at events like these have turned him right into a poker somebody in Peru. It is a fame that may be thoroughly deserved.

Thousands of individuals tried to qualify for this year's Americas Cup. But Mr Peru beat them. Thousands likely tried to qualify for the arena Cup of Poker. But, again, Mr Peru beat them. Such consistency in poker isn't common place. In order the Mexican and Chilean teams butt-heads round the corner within the Americas Cup final, what does he believe the important thing to consistency is?

"A lot of discipline and tough work," says Villaran. "To qualify for the Americas Cup I played between two and 3 tournaments for nearly 28 days in a row. It was constant. I wasn't looking to win the tournaments but just earn points, points, points. A LARGE NUMBER OF players don't understand that, they simply wish to win."

Apparently if you wish to follow in such successful footsteps and take a shot at Americas Cup glory, you will need to be "a rock originally" of every qualifying tournament, and make good use of the time clock.

"If the button passes you and you've got one blind and one point locked up, I prefer to not push. By the point the blinds comes you may have much more points. I REALLY LIKE to maintain my blinds."

Judging by Villaran's record in such matters and the calm way he delivers each word, it is a strategy I WOULD NOT argue with. But can such consistency realistically continue?

"Yeah, sure," he says. "THAT IS my third time so I NEED to come back again."

William Kassouf: Easy to identify despite the camouflage

It has come to the time on this tournament when the ESPN cameras are sweeping along media row, catching nothing such a lot as a blur of illuminated apples on laptop lids with crooked spectres hunched the opposite side. "Content" should be thin at the ground. This isn't just any old media, however the "poker media". A sorry bunch indeed.

But, yes, cameras are actually swarming in the course of the World Series of Poker Main Event tournament room. The content hunt is on. At the three feature tables, which might be now separated from the rest of the tournament room by a rail of advertisements and a channel of spectators, it means a silence has descended. But out within the field, the presence of a camera can bring dormant species to life.

William Kassouf is out in that field, sitting with around 4.2 million in chips, and if these camera crews are fascinated by getting themselves some content, they need to deploy an entire roving team to follow Kassouf's every move.

It's difficult to believe Kassouf needs introduction anymore, but there are still some people available in the market who haven't stood within 50 yards of him. Anyone ever within that radius will know this Brit: He's the man who managed to get Vanessa Selbst to tilt off her chips to him at EPT London, and who has become a minor YouTube sensation way to his speech play at poker tournaments.

"You've got to enjoy it," Kassouf says during a break in play. "Speech play is a huge a part of my game. I DO NOT do exactly it for the cameras, I'm doing it at the outer tables, any table, any player. I do it to get information from my opponents. I BELIEVE there is a lot to realize from speech play."

Despite having had only three hours sleep last night, and no breakfast, Kassouf says he's "buzzing" today, and is in very familiar voice. In between taking pauses to test his Facebook and Twitter page, where messages of support are pouring in, he's engaging every player at his table in conversation--if they're willing. Tony Gregg is essentially stoic and silent, but Louise Francoeur and Jason Les are chatting along.

"It's not everyone's cup of tea," Kassouf says. "People do not like to provide away tells. However the way I GLANCE at it, if I AM NOT asking the questions of my opponents, if I AM NOT talking to them, then I AM NOT going to get the additional information that I NEED for myself."

He adds: "THE WAY YOU play poker is determined by your personality. I'm a sociable, outgoing guy, always having an excellent laugh. Some people won't approve of my speech play but there is not any malice involved. I DO NOT come to berate any players, insult anyone, so if anyone thinks of it that way, they have it totally wrong."

The televised hands against Selbst have brought Kassouf some notoriety around the UK or even to the U.S.. "ONCE I come to Vegas, people say, 'Hey, you are the guy who tilted Vanessa Selbst. Good job, man, good job.' A LARGE NUMBER OF Americans relate to the Vanessa hand because they've seen it on YouTube. It has got 1 million views on YouTube, so a large number of Americans relate to it."

The world may result seeing much more of Kassouf if his tournament continues because it has over the last few days. Despite the chatter, Kassouf says he's fixed on creating a deep run and atoning for previous disappointment.

"It's going great here," he said. "I thought, 'This is the one.' I've come here to win. Vegas. The largest poker arena on the earth. World Series of Poker Main Event. It doesn't get bigger than this. I thought, that is my year. I WISHED to make up for many years ago once I actually made Day 4 but didn't cash...I lost to a one-outer half an hour before the money, but I'm certainly making up for it now."

There are strange times within the Uk on the moment, with an uncertain political landscape and a currency reacting in shock to a couple recent upheavals. It means it's expensive in Las Vegas for a tourist from Britain--but provided that you notice the us as a spot to lose money. Kassouf does not.

"I've believed in myself from the beginning once I thought I'd buy in for 10000 dollars like a boss, inspite of the pound/dollar rate being really bad," he says. "It's costing me nearly an additional thousand pounds to shop for on this year compared with last year. However the way I GLANCE at it's that I came here to win. So if I win, I take dollars home and my dollars are worth much more in pounds. I've come this far."

On his rail stands his friend Alex from the Grosvenor Victoria Casino in London, where Kassouf plies his trade at home. "If he wins, it might be great for poker," Alex said. "HE'S primary. Nobody does it like him."

Kassouf politely asked to not be bokked--"It's just day five. We aren't day 7 yet"--but allowed himself to ponder how a deep run may be greeted back home.

"Hopefully I WILL do it for the Brits," he said. "Everyone's rooting for me back home within the UK. They are going crazy. It might be sick. It'd be sick. I'd love it."

I talked to William Kassouf for four minutes on the first break in play today. Actually, that is not true. I asked him one question -- whether he now gets recognised in poker rooms -- and he talked to me. Here is what he said:

They've known me for many years they usually know me more now, after I go around the circuits to EPTs, etc. After I come to Vegas, people say, "Hey, you are the guy who tilted Vanessa Selbst. It has got numerous exposure online. It was an excellent situation at EPT London, twice, in back-to-back years against Vanessa. I HAVE nothing against her myself. I FEEL she's an incredible player, superb player, but I BELIEVE she let the speech play and banter get under her skin in a six-day tournament and busted. That is what made for good TV. As it was her. It was me being the local guy who qualified for £500 rather than £5,000.

I've got a number of videos on YouTube, Facebook, having banter and i. just enjoy playing poker. It's going great here. I thought, 'This is the one.' I've come here to win. Vegas. The largest poker arena on this planet. World Series of Poker Main Event. It doesn't get bigger than this. I thought, that is my year. I WISHED to make up for many years ago once I actually made Day 4 but didn't cash. That was back within the day when it was $19,500 for a min-cash, as opposed to what it's now, paying out 15 percent of the field, for $15K. That was pretty brutal. I lost to a one-outer half an hour before the money, but I'm certainly making up for it now.

You've got to enjoy it. Speech play is a huge a part of my game. I DO NOT do exactly it for the cameras, I'm doing it at the outer tables, any table, any player. I do it to get information from my opponents. I BELIEVE there is a lot to realize from speech play. It isn't everyone's cup of tea, people do not like to present away tells. However the way I GLANCE at it, if I AM NOT asking the questions of my opponents, if I AM NOT chatting with them, then I AM NOT going to get the additional information that I want, myself. For me personally, with the speech play, I appear to get additional information from my opponents whether they're strong, whether they're confident, what sort of holding they have, whether or not they want me to name or raise, why they're betting so much, why they're checking, are they seeking to bluff me here, are they looking to trap. By accomplishing conversation, I BELIEVE I AM GETTING more reads and more tells from my opponents. And it's more the psychological aspect of the sport. That is what I enjoy, not the gamble, all in and make contact with and winning coin flips, because I appear to run really bad in coin flips. But yeah, playing the entire psychological aspect of the game, post-flop, entering my opponent's mind and reading them for what they have got and looking to psyche them out, effectively, give them the speech effectively once I want them to call, and vice-versa. Represent the nuts when I HAVE nothing, and when I HAVE nothing, represent the nuts.

There's some distance to go, but it has been a fair begin to the day and hopefully I'LL do it for the Brits. Everyone's rooting for me back home within the UK. They are going crazy. It'd be sick. It's good for me, it's good for the game, and hopefully I'll spin it up and it will be great for the sport if I do reach the overall table.

I've only had three hours sleep. I'm buzzing. I DO NOT eat breakfast, I DO NOT do breakfast. I'm used to going to sleep 6 or 7 within the morning and waking up 1 within the afternoon, as poker players do. I HAVE BEEN going to sleep here FIVE OR SIX within the morning, I went to bed at quarter past six this morning, and that i was up a couple of hours later. Three hours sleep, no breakfast. I'm buzzing."

Full Tilt, one of the crucial popular Internet poker operators, is being sued in California for supposedly using software bots disguised as players to win hands at the site, and for accusing legitimate players of operating as bots themselves.

An internet poker player has filed a lawsuit against operator Full Tilt, through which the corporate is accused of being controlled from throughout the US and using software to manage hand results. Lary Kennedy, an entire Tilt patron, filed in L. a. County Superior Court against the corporate and pro players Howard Lederer, Phil Ivey, and Chris "Jesus" Ferguson.

Since the scandals at Absolute Poker and supreme Bet, online gambling customers was worried about software manipulation of Internet games. Kennedy alleges that bots are playing hands at Full Tilt with the data and participation of the poker site.

Kennedy also says that Full Tilt has used a zero-tolerance policy instituted after the cheating scandals on the other poker rooms to accuse legitimate players of being bots, and seizing their money. Kennedy says this happened both to her and other players.

The pros are included within the suit because they're named at the site as having contributed to Full Tilt's design, and Kennedy says they're the controlling force behind the preferred online poker room.

Full Tilt has asserted that it's regulated by the Kahanwake Gaming Commission, on Indian land in Canada.

Andres Carrillo were one cool customer all the week. A chip leader early and always a number of the big stacks because the Latin American Poker Tour Panama Main Event moved towards its final stages, he always seemed in command of himself and frequently the table as well.

That sense of calm continued the entire approach to three-handed play with Aaron Mermelstein and Ruben Suarez, and remained the case as Mermelstein fell in third and Carrillo took a lead during heads-up.

But for a moment things began to look doubtful for the Colombian. Suarez' loud rail of supporters, some waving Venezuelan flags, would possibly not have rattled him, but losing a couple of pots -- including once folding the most productive hand after Suarez had bluffed him -- might well have.

But Carrillo regrouped. He found a place and pushed it. And he won.

Carillo becomes the second one Colombian ever to win an LAPT Main Event title, following Weider Gutierrez who won in Medellin back in Season 6, and earns a handsome first prize of $138,225 for his efforts.

When the overall eight arrived for today's final day -- all that was left from a 553-entry field -- it was the Spaniard, Raul Paez leading the crowd chip-wise with Mermelstein of Philadelphia not far behind to begin the day.

Meanwhile Alcides Gomez brought the shortest stack to today, and it only took a couple of half-hour for him to place all of it in peril with ace-jack. Alas for the Miami-based pro, Austin Peck picked up kings within the small blind, and five cards later Gomez was at the rail in eighth.

Paez continued to keep up his lead as Carrillo became the fast stack. But Carrillo -- sitting to the left of Paez -- started to accumulate while Paez started to lose chips, and while there have been no busts it was Carrillo ascending to take the lead while Suarez found himself in seventh position.

The Colombian Anderson Blanco -- at one time a chip leader himself early on Day 3 -- then got short as well, and got all his chips in on a ten-high flop holding pocket aces while Carrillo had an open-ended straight draw. 

Blanco desired to see blanks, however the turn card filled Carrillo's straight and shortly Blanco was out in seventh.

With six left Carrillo looked in control, however the short stacks kept doubling, perhaps most dramatically in a hand that saw Mermelstein all-in with pocket fours against Paul Cukier's kings, and spike a four at the river to outlive. Not too long after that Mermelstein -- like Carrillo -- had gone from worst to first within the counts because the blinds and antes got bigger and the stacks more shallow.

That hit helped end Cukier's run more quickly than he'd have liked. The Costa Rican grandson of WSOP bracelet holders Max and Maria Stern would put his chips in behind jack-ten, get called by Suarez who had queen-ten, and fail to enhance to fall in sixth.

Moments later Suarez took care of another short stack, stopping Paez in fifth after the latter's king-jack couldn't improve versus Suarez's pocket nines.

And right at the heels of that hand came another flip, this one between Mermelstein's king-queen and Peck's pocket tens. A king on board sent Peck right down to only a single blind, and one hand later Mermelstein won that, too, to send the 20-year-old out in fourth.

Three-handed play between Mermelstein, Suarez, and Carrillo lasted for much longer than it seemed it could. The stacks were shallow to start, but they made it through a few levels to look them get even shallower, with the lead changing hands constantly and all-ins becoming day-saving double-ups over and again.

Indeed, in a single hand Carrillo was all-in with ace-king against the king-ten of Suarez, and a 10 at the flop looked as if Carillo was destined to complete third. But an ace fell at the turn and Carrillo kept his seat.

Finally Mermelstein -- a two-time World Poker Tour champ on the lookout for an LAPT title so as to add to his collection -- saw his run stopped in third when his queen-ten didn't catch as much as Carrillo's ace-queen.

Suarez had the brink to start out heads-up play, but as noted above Carrillo seized it, lost it, seized it again, and at last sealed the deal. The overall hand was a heart-stopper -- Suarez all-in at the flop with a couple and Carrillo drawing to a flush, with the river card completing both the flush and Carrillo's quest for an LAPT title. Meanwhile Suarez came one spot shy of turning into the tour's first Venezuelan champion.

Carrillo greater than triples his career tournament earnings with this win. Indeed, after earning that gigantic six-figure score, it's not surprising to look Carrillo looking cool and calm once more.

It sort of feels like just yesterday that the Cleveland Cavaliers were hoisting the Larry O'Brien Trophy as 2015-16 NBA Champions, but here we're with another season tipping off this week. Covers Expert Al McMordie, with the primary edition of his weekly betting roadmap series, specializes in the league's top three title contenders.

The Golden State Warriors made the most important free agent signing of this year (and, perhaps, any year) once they inked Kevin Durant to a 2-year contract (with a player option after the primary year). Golden State has now compiled the most efficient team in NBA history, because it has two of the highest four, and 4 of the highest 14 players within the entire league. Last season, Durant, Steph Curry and Draymond Green all ranked inside the eight best players in ESPN's Real Plus-Minus. Klay Thompson, though not within the top eight, was 3rd Team All-NBA last year, and had an 18.67 PER. 

And if that weren't daunting enough for the remainder of the league, then consider that each one four of the Warriors' superstars are within the prime in their careers. It is not unreasonable to think the soldiers will win the NBA Championship all the next five years. And that i personally believe they're going to go 16-0 on this year's Playoffs (the Warriors, at -130 odds to win the Title is an out of this world bet). Of course, for our individual game betting purposes, the soldiers usually are over-valued early within the season. Indeed, they went 6-1 within the Preseason, but were just 1-4-2 ATS. 

This week, the soldiers will open the season at home vs. the Spurs (and feature been installed as an 8.5-point favorite), after which finish the week with road games at New Orleans and Phoenix. Of the 3 games, I BELIEVE the center game against the Pelicans would be the best opportunity to play on Golden State. They're going to have had two days off following their season-opener, and the soldiers are 54-21 SU and 48-26-1 ATS when fidgeting with no less than two days of rest. Additionally, Golden State won and covered all three games vs. New Orleans last season, and are 26-8-1 ATS the last 35 regular season meetings vs. New Orleans!

Total Watch

The Tom Thibodeau-era is underway in Minnesota - and make no mistake about it - he's going to transform the Timberwolves into some of the league's best defensive teams (just as he did with the Chicago Bulls, after taking up for Vinny Del Negro). In his first regular season with the Bulls they went 'under' the full 48-34, and a few of the profit was made early within the season, as 21 of the Bulls' first 31 games in 2010 went 'under' the total. 

Don't be surprised if the Timberwolves have the same experience this season. Within the Preseason, Minnesota went 'under' in six of its seven games (including all of the last six).  

This week, the T-Wolves will play road games at Memphis and Sacramento, and every of these games is a superb candidate to be low-scoring. Last season, Memphis ranked within the bottom 10 in offense, and top 10 in defense. Meanwhile, all four of the Minnesota/Sacramento games last season went 'under' the total.

Injury Watch

The San Antonio Spurs may be without SG Danny Green for the primary 10 games of the season, as he suffered a strained quadriceps injury last week. Though Green shot 10% below his career average last season (30.1% from long distance), he improved greatly within the playoffs (24-for-48, 50%). And he had surgery to correct a vision impairment issue within the off-season. 

Notwithstanding his shooting woes last year, Green is a useful defender (perhaps the league's best in transition defense), and ranked Number one. among shooting guards last season in ESPN's Real Plus-Minus defensive rating. So, he's going to be sorely missed the following couple of weeks. 

The Spurs won a franchise-best 67 games last season, and had probably the greatest defensive seasons in NBA history, but should drop off significantly this year. Besides being without Green early on, the Spurs suffered major losses on their frontline. Defensive stalwart Tim Duncan retired, Boris Diaw was traded to Utah, and free agents David West and Boban Marjanovic signed with Golden State and Detroit, respectively. 

This week, the Spurs might be challenged with four games in six days, including a road game at Golden State on Tuesday, and a road game at Miami on Sunday, when the Spurs can be playing without rest vs. a rested Heat squad. Last season, the Spurs went 2-6 ATS their last eight games when playing without rest vs. a rested foe, so the sport at Miami could prove to be difficult.

This Tuesday could be an historic day in Cleveland. Not just will the Indians be playing on this planet Series for the primary time since 1997 (the primary time ever that Game 1 of the sector Series might be played in Cleveland), however the Cavaliers will open their season at home vs. New York, raise their championship banner, and accept their rings. 

A lot of bettors love to go against the defending NBA Champion on its Banner Night, but that situation was a 50-50 proposition over time (NBA Champs are 13-12 ATS since 1991). Instead, I wish to fade such teams at the road of their second game, and particularly if they're matched up against an opponent that is not off a straight-up loss, because the champs are 1-8 ATS in that situation since 1991. And that really well would be the case on Friday, when the Cavaliers will travel to Toronto (check Toronto's result vs. Detroit on Wednesday). 

Even better: The Raptors may be twiddling with revenge from a 4-2 series loss last year within the Eastern Conference Finals.

After greater than three months off, the 2016 World Series of Poker main event November Nine will return to the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas to battle it out for the bracelet, the $8 million first-place prize and the title of worldwide champion.
